The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) is the oldest, largest and leading professional organization for interior designers. ASID has 38,000 members including more than 12,000 students of interior design. ASID seeks "to promote and advance the many ways that design and designers enhance the quality of life for all of us." Colorado State University has a long-standing, highly active student chapter (since late 1980s) with approximately 70 student members. The student chapter board hosts monthly events and service activities throughout the academic year with professionals in the local and state. Many leadership opportunities are available through chapter involvement and interaction with interior design professionals. The ASID and IIDA student chapters offer joint activities several times a year.

Fashion Group International (FGI) is a global, non-profit, professional organization with over 5000 members who are active in all areas of the fashion industry, including apparel, accessories, beauty, and home products. The CSU Student Chapter is supported by the Denver Region Chapter of FGI. Student members of FGI participate in a variety of educational and career development activities sponsored by the Denver Chapter, including the Annual Rising Star Awards and Career Day. Student members of FGI also plan and promote a variety of social and educational events for the CSU community, such as presenting an annual recycled fashion show, building floats for the Homecoming Parade, and engaging in volunteer activities in support of local Fort Collins’ organizations.

IIDA is the professional organization representing over 10,000 members worldwide. IIDA provides networking and educational information to members along with expertise and contacts in professional practice. The professional organization is committed to “enhancing the quality of life through excellence in interior design and advancing interior design through knowledge”. IIDA represents diverse professional interests in all market segments of design practice. The CSU IIDA campus chapter was formed in the fall of 2004 and throughout the year continued to host and support unique interface opportunities with practicing professionals from Colorado; networking with IIDA members also enhances job and internship searches of recent alumni.
